Instructors

Years before she actually found them, Denise had a desire to study meditation and the healing arts. When she finally heard of yoga, the spiritual element coupled with its physical discipline & attention to detail seemed like the perfect addition to an already established fitness/stretching habit.

Denise began her yoga practice in 2001 at the Yoga Center Winnipeg where she received her teacher training and continues to study. Along the way, Denise completed the 3.5 month Spiritual Lifestyle Program at Kripalu Center for Health & Wellness and has taken classes and workshops from many awesome instructors.

Styles studied include Iyengar, Ashtanga, Kripalu & Kundalini.

Denise added instructing Yoga to her practice with hopes of honouring those who shared with her by inspiring others to explore this beautiful science.

Professionally she is an electrician, a Certified Nutritional Consultant, a Registered Massage Therapist &  Founder of Springfield Wellness.

Class Descriptions

Active Flow Yoga

60 minute In Flow Yoga. We will move from pose to pose with a focus of following the breath from movement to movement and with explanations, but few demonstrations. Active Flow means you will be challenged more than in a gentle flow class. We will introduce more challenging poses and tiring you out a bit - with the intention of bringing you out for your head in into a relaxed nervous system.

Moderate Flow Yoga

75 Minutes In Flow Yoga. We will move from pose to pose with a focus of following the breath from movement to movement and with explanations, but few demonstrations. Moderate Flow is a great way to bring movement back to your practice without the intimidation of the "Active" flow title. We will introduce more challenging poses and tiring you out a bit - with the intention of bringing you out for your head in into a relaxed nervous system.

Gentle Flow Yoga

60 minutes. This is an all levels flow class. Be prepared to move and be gently challenged while in this class. Please listen to your own body's needs and accept modifications you may need.

Gentle Yoga

60 minutes. Restorative Flow blend created to gently open your body and provide sustained physical support. This class nourishes the nervous system and is suitable for all levels, as long as you can get on and off the floor.

Yoga Foundations - All Levels

60 minutes. The focus of foundations class is standing and other foundational poses. This includes all types of poses, mostly from a standing position. (Standing twist instead of seated twist). At the moderate level, we move into deeper bends and the floor. We start exploring inversions if appropriate.

Foundation classes are a great time to learn modifications that will allow those with injuries and other special considerations to adapt to the classical poses.

Foundations does not necessarily mean easier; these classes offer a relaxed pace, yet plenty of time for challenge should that be appropriate. The means we can also explore more advanced poses with a thorough approach, regardless of level. We are more likely to use props, wall ropes and slings in this class.

Yogalates

60 minutes. A mixture of Pilates and Yoga, this class provides the mixture of core strength and flexibility of the two. It is a faster pace and will provide a full body workout. The combination will provide you with long, lean muscles. Modifications and variations will be provided. For an additional burn, light weights can be used (2-5lbs)

Barre

60 minutes. A combination of yoga, pilates, and ballet. Exercises target the whole body and it is a FULL BODY workout. The ballet component consists of exercises performed by ballerinas to strengthen and achieve those beautifully chiseled legs! Modifications and variations will always be available. For an additional burn, light weights can be used (2-5 lbs).

*Note* There is no choreography and no dance experience required. This is not a dance class.

Cardio Boxing

45 Minutes. This is a fun boxing workout, consisting of punching pads, shields, body weight exercises, kettlebells PLUS all participants get to punch Mike. Have fun, learn a new skill, lose weight and increase your stamina.
